You may go to a church on a regular basis – or not. You may enjoy the products science has provided – or curse science for the changes it has made in this world. You may be an optimist – or a pessimist.
All of these things make up your philosophy. You may call yourself a Catholic, or a Democrat, or an environmentalist or any number of other names. Those labels describe part of what you stand for, but they don’t come close to defining you!
In order to get up out of your chair and walk across the room, you have to think about rising and imagine yourself moving to another place. In order to get anywhere, you must first focus on a destination.
You must remember that each of us creates our own environment. We only think that we are affecting the lives of others, or that their actions are affecting us.
Our society puts a very high value on money. Without money, how can you pay the rent, feed your family, get an education and all the other “necessities” that make life enjoyable?
So you work long hours at a job you probably don’t like, to earn a little money (never enough!) to buy all the things you think you need to be happy. Are you happy?
Or is working to be happy making you miserable?
What the Democrat and Republican labels stand for has changed over the years. It is generally understood, though, that Democrats have “liberal” political views, while the Republicans are more “conservative”.
Another question making the rounds lately is “What kind of car would Jesus drive?” I think I can answer that one.
You have been taught that God has a plan for each of us and that God is infallible, which means God cannot make a mistake.
You have also been told to believe that whatever happens to you is a part of God’s plan, which we are not wise enough to understand.
“God’s plan” gave you free will. You are in charge of your own life. You are free to live it in peace and harmony, or to screw it up! God provides whatever you desire. God does not judge your request.
Even scriptures say that God’s judgment comes later! First, you get to live your life as you see fit. Your thoughts create your life.
Many people will pass through your life, bringing with them the things you have asked for. Friends, acquaintances, lovers, neighbors – each with something to share. And they are not a part of your life just for your benefit. You have something to share with them, as well.
Some will stay for a long time, while some will be brief encounters.
We always attract people who have something to offer that we want, or who want something we have to offer. God is the original matchmaker!
